Scary story

#78 Ghost in department store restrooms

This is a story of my experience.
I was working in a building in Namba, Osaka.

One day about three years ago, when I was still working there.
I went to the restroom in the basement and found a woman in the hand-washing area.
She was wearing a uniform I had never seen before.
I was suspicious because it was late at night, but decided to assume that she was probably working late-night overtime like me.

The woman was slumped over, looking ill, so
I asked her, “What’s wrong?”.
She said, “It hurts…it hurts…”.
I tried to guide her to the office.
“That’s terrible, isn’t it? Let me take you with me,” I said, and held out my hand.
The woman held my hand with her face down.

The woman’s hand was surprisingly cold.
At that moment I felt that the woman was not of this world.
Immediately I pulled my hand away.
The woman turned her face from her slumped position toward me.
I knew I should not look at her, but my eyes would not listen to me.
The woman’s face was very pale and I could not see any animation in it.
The woman stood up and came at me, saying, “Help me…help me ・・・・.”

I think I was screaming inaudibly.
I backed away and managed to get out of the restroom.
I looked closely and saw that the woman was holding her chest.
She said again, “Help me…” and quickly disappeared from my sight.
I was upset, but ran into the office.

When I told the whole story to a senior staff member in my office,
he said calmly, “You saw it too, didn’t you? It comes out often. I saw that too…” She began to talk.
(It is said to be a very famous case.) In fact, about 20 years ago, a woman who worked in a western goods store was stabbed to death in that bathroom by a 17-year-old girl.
She passed away with her unfinished business in this world, and she may have appeared in the restroom again now, suffering.
