It was about 10 years ago when my brother was in college.
There were about 10 people in the same course, and they were all pretty close.
After the summer vacation, everyone went to class, even though they said it was hot and dull, and a week passed.
My brother was eating ice cream at night at the boarding house when he suddenly thought, “Hey, what’s going on with XX?
Thinking about it, he hadn’t seen his course mate, XX, since the summer break.
They had gone to the beach together during the summer vacation, and if he hadn’t shown up, I would have called him, but he didn’t show up at all.
Somehow they had forgotten all about him.
I tried calling him right away, but got his voicemail.
The next day at the university, I asked one of my friends, “Hey, I wonder what’s going on with XXX.”
“Well, I totally forgot about XXX!” And then everyone started talking about it, and there was a commotion.
In the end, everyone said they had forgotten XXX’s existence until that day.
XXX didn’t show up that day either, so my brother called XXX’s parents’ house , but they said he wasn’t over here.
He found out later that the teacher of the class he always attended had somehow forgotten to call out XXX’s name.
Two days later, XX was found wandering on a mountain road in a neighboring town.
He told us that he had been lost in the mountains and had been walking for a whole day and night.
The date was wrong, so I checked, and he said, “Today is… right?” and he said the date was 10 days ago.
It was ruled a temporary memory lapse, and he was admitted to the hospital as usual and released soon after, but he was not able to explain it.
He said that the story is told among his brothers and sisters as “absolutely, God forbid”.
By the way, they are sure that he went for a walk in the mountains 10 days ago.
The only food I brought was onigiri…
