#95 Something who lives in the mountains

A week ago. I took my daughter for a drive.
We were driving along an ordinary mountain road and had dinner at a drive-in on the way.
We went into an unpaved side road to scare her.

She stopped me, but I was amused, so we kept going.
Then the engine suddenly stopped.

We were deep in the mountains, with no cell phone service and no knowledge of cars, so my daughter and I were at a loss.
My daughter and I were at a loss. It would have taken hours to walk to the drive-in where we had dinner.
So we decided to stay in the car that night and walk to the drive-in the next morning.

While we were in the car, it became night.
Nothing sounds at night in the mountains. The wind would sometimes blow and the trees would rustle.

Time went by and my daughter fell asleep in the passenger seat.
I closed my eyes and thought, “I’m going to go to sleep too,” when I heard something.

It was weird now that I remember it. I couldn’t tell if it was a voice or a sound.

It was like, “Ten ..So…Metsu…” It was repeating over and over again.

I kept my eyes closed at first, trying to convince myself that I was hearing something wrong, but the sound seemed to be getting closer and closer, and I couldn’t help but open my eyes.

I opened my eyes and saw something white and fluffy approaching the car, moving in a crazy way.
It had no head and appeared to have a single leg.
It was coming toward me with its hands waving wildly and its whole body shaking.

I was so scared that I almost screamed, but for some reason I was so focused on the weird thing that I was trying not to wake up my daughter who was sleeping next to me, that I couldn’t scream or run away.

It kept coming closer and closer to the car, but he seemed to be passing by the car.
I kept hearing “Ten ..So…Metsu…” as he passed by.

The sound went away, and when I turned around and didn’t see him, I was relieved.
I turned to look at my daughter and saw it outside the passenger window.
I looked closer and saw that it had a face on it chest, even though I thought it didn’t have a head. It was smiling at me with a horrible look on its face that I don’t even want to remember.

I was beyond scared, I was so angry that he had gotten close to my daughter that I screamed, “You son of a bitch!.
As soon as I yelled, It disappeared and my daughter jumped up.

I thought she was startled by my yelling, so I tried to apologize to her, but she kept mumbling, “I got in, I got in, I got in, I got in, I got in, I got in, I got in, I got in.”

So I tried to get out of there and started the engine.

The engine, which had not started earlier, started without any trouble.

I hurried back the way we came. My daughter was still mumbling next to me.

I wanted to get to a place with people as soon as possible, so I drove on. Finally, I could see the lights of the city.
I was a little relieved, but her mumbling changed from “I got in, I got in” to “Ten ..So…Metsu……” before I knew it.
Her face looked like it wasn’t her daughter’s face at all.

I thought, “I can’t go home with my daughter in this condition,” so I rushed to a temple I saw.
It was the middle of the night, but there was a light on at the temple next door where the head priest lived. I pushed the doorbell, dragging my daughter with me.

A man who looked like the priest came out, saw my daughter, and said to me, “What have you done!”
I told him that I had gone into the mountains and seen a strange man. He looked disappointed .
He said, “I don’t know if it works…” and started chanting and banging on my daughter’s shoulder and back.

The head priest asked us to stay the night, and since I was worried about my daughter, I decided to let her stay.
My daughter seemed to be possessed by “Yamanoke” (that’s what the priest called it).
He said that if this condition continues after 49 days, she will stay like this for the rest of her life and will never come to her senses.
The priest said that he would take care of my daughter and try to get rid of the Yamanoke so that this would not happen.
My wife and I called the priest and managed to get him to believe us.
The priest said that if I had gone home, my wife would have been possessed by Yamanoke.
The Yamanoke is said to possess women, and my wife would not be able to see her daughter until the Yamanoke was completely removed.

It’s been a week and my daughter is still with the head priest. I go to check on her every day, but she doesn’t seem to be my daughter anymore.
She smiles at me and looks at me with an indescribable look in her eyes.
I want her to be my daughter again as soon as possible.

You should be careful because you never know what is in the mountains.
